You've Got Questions? We've Got Your Back.

What is Stolen Vehicle Locator (SVL)?

SiriusXM Connect Stolen Vehicle Locator is a secure, compliant access to real-time and historical vehicle location data to support criminal investigations and exigent circumstances.

What is the SVL Portal?

The SVL Portal is a secure, law enforcement–only platform that allows authorized officers to:

• Check whether a reported stolen vehicle is equipped with SiriusXM Stolen Vehicle Locator (SVL)
• Submit lawful requests for vehicle location data
• Monitor the status of their requests

Who can access the SVL Portal?

Access is restricted to verified law enforcement personnel. Users must register with official agency credentials and complete identity verification. Access to information regarding a specific SVL case is limited to law enforcement officers authorized to investigate that SVL case.

What types of vehicles are supported?

Only vehicles equipped with SiriusXM Cconnect services that include SVL capabilities are eligible. Within the portal, you can check to see if a vehicle is eligible by entering VIN and vehicle information as well as make and monitor active of stolen vehicle location requests, all within the portal.

Does SVL work on all SiriusXM-Equipped Vehicles?

No - while many vehicles are equipped with SiriusXM Audio, only specific vehicles with SiriusXM Connect services are equipped with our Stolen Vehicle Locator services.  To confirm a VIN is equipped, you may use the VIN search finder in the Stolen Vehicle Locator Portal.

What’s new compared to the previous SVL system?

SVL 2.0 introduces:

• Direct notifications to officers (email, SMS, or portal)
• A secure law enforcement portal for case monitoring
• A streamlined process for submitting third-party requests
• Reduced delays in receiving location updates

2. Select “Sign Up”
3. Enter your official agency email
4. Create a secure password
5. Complete email verification
6. Login & provide required agency credentials
7. Submit for approval

How long does account approval take?

Account approval typically takes 24-48 hrs.

Will the site request permissions?

Yes, depending on functionality, you may be asked to allow location access.

Can multiple officers from the same agency register?

Yes. Each officer should create their own profile and set their notification preferences.

What types of requests are supported?

Initiation of stolen vehicle location service without the owner’s validated consent, or for purposes unrelated to recovery of a stolen vehicle, require a valid court order or search warrant demonstrating probable cause that must meet the requirements set forth in and be submitted in a manner consistent with our Vehicle Location Policy available at https://siriusxmconnect.com/vehicle-location-policy/.  In cases of an emergency in which bypassing ordinary search warrant procedures is necessary due to an imminent threat of serious bodily harm or death to an individual, an Exigent Circumstances request may be initiated from the Stolen Vehicle Locator Portal. Prevention of damage to or recovery of property or speculation that a vehicle may be used in future violent crimes is not considered an Exigent Circumstance.

How do I submit a request for exigent circumstances?

In your case list, you will have a + button to add additional cases.

You can enter the VIN to determine whether it is capable of SiriusXM Connect Stolen Vehicle Locator Service.

If it is, you can then click the "Submit with Exigent Circumstance" to fill out the paperwork in its entirety and submit the case for review. More information on the requirements for a valid Exigent Circumstances request are available at  https://siriusxmconnect.com/vehicle-location-policy/.

Note that if a SVL is already in progress for this vehicle, you will receive an notification that a SVL already exists for this vehicle.

What should I do if the VIN cannot be found?

If the VIN is not found in the search, then that means our system does not have that vehicle is not equipped to receive our Stolen Vehicle Locator Services, and therefore is not compatible with the portal functionality.

Do I still need to call and leave a voicemail?

No. The voicemail-based process has been replaced by the portal.

How do I know if my request was received?

You’ll receive confirmation and be able to follow the status of the request within the portal.

What happens if my request is denied?

A case may be rejected if it does not meet our Exigent Circumstances case requirements. You will be notified when a case is rejected, and may contact us to provide additional information.

Can I see past vehicle locations?

The portal includes historical location data and map-based vehicle location only for open & active SVL cases you are authorized to investigate.

How can I find more information about closed or past cases?
